ECO Newsletter: Week of January 25th, 2015

unnamedJanuary 25th, 2015

Hi everyone!

Welcome back from your holiday getaways in the Northeast, in the Caribbean, or whatever it is, to a brand new semester of friendship, learning and fun with ECO!

We are excited to announce two opportunities for you to engage in critical environmental conversations happening on campus and across the nation. First, we are hosting a book talk with award-winning journalist Mark Schapiro on his new book release, Carbon Shock, where Mark delves into the economics of climate change, such as carbon price, the polluter pays principle, corporate financial decision-making impacted by climate risks, and much more. The event starts at 6:30 pm, Feb. 4th, location to be announced. So mark your calendar, and look out for our update! We would also like to bring your attention to the Green Fund managed by the Columbia Environmental Stewardship. The fund, totaling $25,000, supports student-led projects that improves sustainability practices on the Columbia campus. From now till Feb. 20th, we cordially invite all of you for innovative ideas that can shape the sustainability agenda of the University as a major energy consumer.
