GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS:

Call for applications: Global Food Security Symposium Delegation

Application deadline: March 21, 2014

Symposium dates: May 21-22, 2014 in Washington, DC

 The Chicago Council on Global Affairs is now accepting applications from students to participate in the Global Food Security Symposium 2014 Next Generation Delegation. The Next Generation Delegation program was launched in 2013 to provide the opportunity for promising students to engage in symposium discussions and to interact with policy, civil society, and business leaders working on agriculture, food, and nutrition issues. If selected, the Chicago Council will cover airfare, accommodations, and meal expenses. The Global Food Security Symposium will be held on May 21-22, 2014 in Washington, DC.

JOBS/INTERNSHIPS/TRAINING:

JOB OPPORTUNITY: Food and Agriculture Association Research Associate (2 openings)

Application deadline: Monday, March 17th by 9am

The CGIAR Standing Panel on Impact Assessment (SPIA) is recruiting two research associates to be based in Sub-Saharan Africa (hosted by a research center of the CGIAR). SPIA has a mandate for assessing the adoption and impact of agricultural technologies developed by the CGIAR Consortium of centers and research programs. The LSMS-ISA is a World Bank project that collects nationally-representative panel datasets on agriculture in 8 Sub-Saharan African countries. Expected start date: July 2014. Duration: 11 months, renewable subject to performance.

Finding a Job in the UN System and World Bank
Wednesday, March 5

This informative workshop, led by a senior Human Resources professional at a UN agency, outlines strategies for finding a job and launching a career in the UN system and the World Bank. Participants will gain valuable perspectives on managing the interview process, and useful resources for strengthening their candidacy.
