September 9, 2013

On behalf of ECO, the SIPA Environmental Coalition, welcome to both incoming and returning students! This year promises to be an awesome one for ECO and environment-related events. ECO had an ambitious calendar of events last year, and is gearing up for an even busier year ahead!

This week starts a rush of events hosted by ECO and partner organizations both on and off the Columbia campus. Our first event is ECO’s first general body lunch – so come check us out! You will also find your ECO Board members flyering on the 4th floor of IAB most of the week, so come say hi, introduce yourself, or register for our upcoming events.

ECO Communications Director Position

The School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA) Environmental Coalition (ECO) is a student group dedicated to elevating the profile of global and local environmental issues. ECO raises awareness by offering skills-based trainings, hosting educational and social activities, and providing opportunities for advocacy through collaboration. Our goal is to spur action and engage the Columbia community in dialogues that highlight the linkages among our fields.

As Communications Director, you’ll be in charge of developing creative communication strategies and raising ECO’s visibility by spreading the word about everything going on at ECO through ECO’s listserv, website, Facebook page, Twitter handle, and other relevant channels, and by designing flyers for events. This position is for fall 2013, with the possibility of extending into 2014.

To apply: send a paragraph on your background and interest in the position to ECO President Laura Sundblad at les2184@columbia.edu.
