Hi ECO!

With Earth Summit right on our heels, we are looking forward to a great line up of Earth Week events in April. Come celebrate Earth Day during Columbia University “Earth Week” from April 22nd – 26th, hosted by EcoReps! Each day, groups from Columbia and Barnard will be hosting exciting events such as movie screenings, community gardening, speakers, and more. On Friday the 26th, make sure to check out our culminating event GreenFest on Lehman Lawn for free food, eco-themed carnival games with prizes, performances and more! ECO and partners have an exciting line up of events in the coming weeks, so make sure and mark your Calendars. To stay on top of all our new and events do not forget to check out ECO-SIPA.org  and join our listserve or forward to a friend.

Come join us sort through trash or see how well/or poorly SIPA recycles!!
What:             
Waste Audit targeting water bottles and coffee cup waste, so we can use the data to encourage use of reusable mugs.

Eurasian Pipelines – Road to Peace, Development and Interdependencies?

What:              The Seventh Annual Colloquium: “Geo-Eco Politics, Eurasian Energy and (elusive) Transparency”

Confirmed speakers include Jalil Jumriany, Director General, Ministry of Mines, Afghanistan; Andrey Konoplyanik, Adviser, Gazprom Export; Steve LeVine, author of “Oil and Glory”; Ekpen Omonbude, Commonwealth Secretariat and author of “Cross-border Oil and Gas Pipelines and the Role of the Transit Country; ” David Onoprishvili, Chairman, Budget and Finance Committee, Parliament, Georgia; and other experts, public officials and scholars from around the world, including Azerbaijan, Canada, Mexico, Papua New Guinea, Russia, Turkey and UK.

Gender, Rio+20, and the Post-2015 Development Agenda
What:             
Eleanor Blomstrom, from Women’s Environment and Development Organization will be speaking on “Gender, Rio+20, and the Post-2015 Development Agenda”.  Eleanor is a SIPA grad and coordinates programs on sustainable development and climate change for WEDO.  A (non-pizza) lunch will be served.

Global Mayors Forum

What:              International Global Mayor’s Forum. The Keynote speaker will be Mayor Park Wan-su of Changwon, South Korea. Mayor Park has focused on sustainability projects in Changwon, a major industrial city, including creating a public bicycle rental system, which he will discuss in his talk. Refreshments will be served.
When:             Tuesday, April 30th,  4:00-5:30PM
